About Me

Years ago, I had read the bio's of some very successful artists,

that the secret to creating a truly expressive painting, is to -- “just be!”

Today, those simple words, are echoed by established artists I have spoken with as well as singers and actors, and are still very empowering.

During the process of developing and honing my skills, these two words really mean, three words -- “just be you!”

The filtering out in putting aside all expectations and distractions to get to the essence of what makes them who they are. This simple and clearing mantra has served me well over the years, both in my life and in creating art.

For me, artwork is about capturing the energy and emotion sparked by an experience, or memory, and then conveying it on canvas through expressive lines, texture, vibrant colors, and evocative connotations.

I love many different styles of art, but abstract art is my true passion. To be able to paint freely and fluidly, beyond any constraint, is analogous to music or poetry. It focuses my attention and provides me to be purely expressive. And it allows the viewer to bring their own evocative emotions, and ideas into the interpretation.

As a native New Yorker, there is this very unique exposure and enlightenment of people from all over the world whom I grew up with, played with, and had interesting conversations from so many walks of life.

The inspiration for much of my work comes from a confluence and variations of the sights, sounds,

and scents all around me, from architecture,  classical music, the sultry rhythms of ethnic music, the spicy aroma of exotic cuisines, design, spirituality and the classical human form of a woman's beauty.

There is much to be inspired by on this beautiful earth. I am filled with anticipation and excitement to experience more of it through my travels. Such as when walking around Florence, Italy and feeling this unique connection with the sculptures and paintings. Or, when my wife and I were taking a mid-night summer stroll in southern France and coming across a century’s old café, and just kicking back with a bottle of wine, the scent of jasmine permeating throughout the air,

and a full moon.

I look forward to expressing and sharing more through my work.

Life’s beautiful!
